The Hytale sandbox development team has officially announced the launch date for the game in early access – January 13, 2026. The start of sales of the game is scheduled for December 13, 2025. Only two weeks have passed since the purchase of the rights to the game and the developers are actively working on the project.
According to the creators, the attempt to completely rewrite Hytale on a new cross-platform engine turned out to be too large-scale. Now the studio has switched to restoring the original version. To do this, we had to manually merge more than 300 GitHub branches into one working build – a huge engineering effort that made it possible to prepare the game for early access.
The developers honestly warn: early access will be really early. The game looks outdated in some places, and some of the systems require improvement – this is a consequence of returning to the prototype assembly. However, progress is moving quickly, the team is actively expanding, and now the studio already has 50 employees, including more than 40 newly hired old and new specialists.
While the modding tools and creative toolkit aren’t perfect yet, they’re already in a state where creators can create content from day one. The developers believe that the community will play a huge role in the future of the game.
The team specifically emphasizes: if you are not sure, it is better not to pre-order. The game will remain “raw” and with errors for a long time, but the developers promise that they will bring Hytale to the state that was originally intended.
