CD PROJEKT RED presented a special episode of the Night City Wire show dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077. During the event, the developers showed a new cinematic trailer for the upcoming addition Phantom Liberty. The video stars famous actor Idris Elba, who plays the role of secret agent Solomon Reed.
The action in the trailer takes place seven years before the events of the main plot of Cyberpunk 2077. Reed is investigating a conspiracy aimed at overthrowing the US President. His search takes him to Night City, where he encounters dangerous enemies and unexpected allies.
Viewers had the opportunity to see Elba discuss her DLC character, as well as the cinematic trailer shown.
Polish musician David Podsiadlo, who is the author of the add-on’s musical theme, shared his impressions of working on the project. Note that he previously collaborated with the studio to record music for the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Night City Wire featured composers P.T. Adamczyk and Jacek Paciorkowski, revealing details of the creation of new music for the expansion. They talked about the score for “Phantom Freedom” and said that it is available for streaming right now. In addition, the composers talked about new radio stations added to the game. The playlist of one of the new stations, called Growl FM, consists entirely of songs hand-selected from those submitted at a music competition organized for the Cyberpunk 2077 community. During the show, a documentary about Growl FM was announced, which will be released on September 18 and will tell about the appearance of the radio station.
In addition, CD PROJEKT RED announced the release date of the free update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077. The update will be available on September 21, 2023, that is, five days before the release of the Phantom Freedom add-on.
Game Director Gabe Amatangelo talked about reworked skill and perk trees, as well as a completely new cybernetic implant skill tree that will appear exclusively in the Phantom Liberty expansion. Also featured were three short videos in which CD PROJEKT RED game designers shared their favorite character builds.
As a bonus, the studio has released the Cyberpunk 2077 Build Planner, a free tool that allows players to create their own builds directly from the browser. You can try it out at this link.
The release of the “Phantom Freedom” add-on for Cyberpunk 2077 will take place on September 26, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
