Waiting for game level GTA VI brings it to a state where the object of close analysis becomes not the gameplay or the plot, but the cardboard. People are ready to disassemble the font on the end of the box pixel by pixel, argue about the thickness of the walls and calculate from the logo what exactly will be inside.

The reason was a photo from X from user Alexi098, who posted photos of a large black package with the Rockstar Games logo, the Roman numeral VI with palm trees inside and a stylized Vice City inscription.

The post was in Spanish, and it boiled down to one short thought:

Well, to hell with it. There will be a GTA VI Collector’s Edition. I worked for a month producing this packaging.

On Reddit, the photo immediately received an “unconfirmed” label, and deservedly so. The layout of the inscriptions is confusing: the combination of Vice City and Leonida looks too straightforward for Rockstar, which usually treats typography more carefully. On the other hand, there are a lot of such boxes, and the advertising campaign for the new part is completely different.

At the same time, someone dug up the website of a company specializing in non-standard packaging, and some players reasonably suggested that this might not be a retail publication at all, but a press kit or a promotional kit for stores with materials for display cases.

The existence of a collector’s edition in itself would not be a surprise – Rockstar released them for GTA IV, Max Payne 3, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Another thing is alarming: previously such sets were announced at approximately the same distance before release, along with pre-orders, but now there is silence.

A separate line of dispute is the content. The Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Set was sold without the game itself, and since then this arrangement has become the norm: steelbook, card, figures, and buy the code or disc separately.
