The Pokemon Company, together with Game Freak, has unveiled the next chapter in the history of the main Pokemon series. New part called Pokemon Winds and Waves is being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 and is being prepared for release in 2027.
Pokemon Winds and Waves will offer a full-fledged open world, divided into picturesque islands and vast ocean spaces. Traditionally for the series, the appearance of the main character will depend on the selected version of the game. At the beginning of the journey, trainers will have to choose between three new starter Pokémon, each with unique characteristics:
- Browt is a grass-type hatchling Pokémon that looks like a bean seed;
- Pombon is a Fire-type puppy Pokémon with the base ability Blaze;
- Gecqua is a water-type gecko Pokémon weighing about four kilograms.
Also in the game there will be special forms of Pikachu – Mr. Windichu and Miss Vayvichu.
