The trend towards the introduction of artificial intelligence and neural networks in games is gradually gaining momentum. Perhaps the next game using this technology will be the space MMORPG EVE Online – data miners noticed hints of full communication with NPC Aura in the test client files.
NPC Aura already exists in the game as a “training bot” that introduces players to the basics as part of the tutorial mode and later gives tips on mastering the game. However, all of her interactions with players are pre-programmed and lack direct interaction or communication.
At the moment, it is unknown how realistic this find is and when Aura may become a full-fledged training artificial intelligence. If CCP Games implements this technology, it will provide newcomers with a powerful source of knowledge needed to learn the ins and outs of this complex game.
