Samsung is unlikely to have a bright future in Russia – more than 60 smartphone models have been banned from selling in this country. This also applies to the Galaxy Flip and Galaxy Fold.
For Samsung, the morning began with a court ruling from a Moscow court. Korean tech giant banned from selling more than 60 smartphone models; there are even “clamshells” among them. And it’s not about hot batteries or a fragile case. It’s all about Samsung Pay.
The Swiss company “Squin SA” has filed a lawsuit against the electronic payment system Samsung Pay. Its representatives said that they had patented such technology earlier than others. So far, it is known that Samsung Pay takes 17% of the digital payments market. This precedent could be bad for Google Pay and Apple Pay, as they use similar technology.
By the way, 61 models of Samsung smartphones were banned not only from selling, but also from importing and storing on the territory of the Russian Federation. This will hit the company hard, because some data it occupies 33.5% of the share of the Russian mobile market.
