Very soon, the multiplayer survival simulator Once Human will switch to a season system, with partial wipes occurring between them. Many players were concerned about this fact, so the developers decided to talk about it in more detail.
Seasons in Once Human are called scenarios, which represent the theme of the server. At Once Human’s global launch in July, two scenarios were available: the Manibus PvE scenario and the Evolution’s Call PvP scenario. In September and October, the developers are going to hold special events with new scenarios. The September scenario will allow players to face a confrontation between factions, and the October scenario will introduce a completely new map and challenge them to survive in extreme conditions. We are also working on scenarios with unlimited PvP gameplay and longer duration. In addition, in the future there will be a regular scenario that can be played all year round. In total, the authors plan to release four new scripts per year.
Each scenario takes place within one season, the duration of which depends on the specific scenario. The season will be divided into several stages depending on the specifics of the scenario. Game content will be unlocked gradually as the server develops, so that players can always enjoy something new. Once you’ve unlocked all of the scenario content and the season reaches the settlement phase, you can sign up for a new scenario and embark on a new adventure. Additionally, you can stay on the same server until the settlement phase ends. In current scenarios, this phase lasts four weeks.
Each scenario will challenge you with unique seasonal rules and in-game challenges. For example, in some scenarios you will have to explore uncharted territories and obtain rare Deviations, while in others you will have to create alliances with other metahumans, survive in harsh conditions and fight ferocious monsters.
Seasons Features:
- New Survival Mechanics – Some scenarios will introduce features that will increase the difficulty of survival, such as harsher weather conditions or more challenging environments.
- Maps and Areas – In some scenarios, a new map will appear.
- Enemy Types and Dungeons – Special monsters may appear in different scenarios. Proper setup of memetics and equipment is a way to cope with various dangers and threats. Even within the same scenario, there can be different combinations of environments (cues), creating a variety of survival challenges.
- Scope – The maximum number of players for each scenario will also vary.
Registration rules for the new scenario:
- In the final phase of the current scenario, you can sign up for a new scenario and immediately begin a new journey.
- If you wish, you can not register in the new scenario and remain on the same server, continuing research and battles for another 4 weeks. During this time, you can always sign up for one of the new scenarios.
- If you have not yet decided which scenario to join, then at the end of the last stage your server will be closed and your character will return to the Eternal Land, where you can continue playing and go to a new scenario at any time.
The developers say they value the time and effort that players put in. Even if the scenario ends or you exit halfway through it, you will be able to collect the rewards you earned, with the exception of some extremely rare cases and scenario-related items. However, in order to ensure that each scenario provides a complete gaming experience and allows all players to enjoy the game regardless of their progress, the following rules have been introduced:
- Your character will not be deleted. Character name, body size, cosmetics, furniture formulas, friends, important materials (including starches, kristgins, Mitsuko marks, silver keys and more), battle pass progress and quest progress will be saved forever. They will not be lost when moving from one scenario to another. However, character level and memetics are considered part of the scenario experience and are closely related to game pacing and balance, so they will be reset according to the scenario rules.
- Weapon and armor blueprints, blueprint fragments, weapon accessories, modifications, food recipes and other important resources for your character’s game progress will be saved forever, and you can use them at any time in any scenario.
- House drawings, furniture formulas and your character’s furniture will be saved forever. However, when you start a new scenario, you will have to spend building materials to rebuild everything based on the house blueprint. The team has optimized the House Drawing feature for better compatibility with formulas, allowing you to quickly turn your house drawing into reality, even without additional materials.
- The resources you obtain (materials, medicine, ammo, and more), armor/weapons you craft, aberrations and calibration blueprints you capture will be transferred to your Eternal Land and stored forever. When entering a new scenario, you can take a few items with you, as long as they comply with the rules of the scenario. However, remember that there is a limit to the number of items you can claim. This is to ensure that both newcomers and veterans are starting from scratch, promoting fair competition in the new scripted season. The authors promise to make sure that everyone can bring their favorite content into the next season. As for Energy Links, since they are closely tied to scenario pacing and in-game trades, they will carry over to your Eternal Land after the season ends. They will be converted into Astral Sand, which can be used to build the Eternal World, in a certain ratio.
- Items strongly associated with scenarios and memetic specializations cannot be transferred between scenarios. Memetics will reset based on level, allowing you to re-select them and craft items based on the specific scenario you’re playing.
Before starting a new scenario, you will have a certain number of Resource Points. Each item you choose to take with you into a new scenario will be worth a certain amount of these points. The required amount varies depending on the item and can be checked in-game. Your Resource Point count is updated every time you join a new scenario.
