Server Expansion and Sales Resumption of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV

The MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has been having a hard time since the launch of the latest Endwalker expansion. The servers simply couldn’t handle the huge workloads, and the scarcity of semiconductors only exacerbated the problem. Because of this, the developers even had to withdraw the game from sales.

In a new email, producer/director Naoki Yoshida has revealed when to expect server expansions and sales to resume, and more. The message turned out to be really voluminous, therefore, for convenience, we briefly wrote out the most important points:

  • The game will go on sale again on January 25 (11:00 UTC).
  • The Oceania data center with 5 worlds will open on January 25th.
  • Server transfer will become available again on January 26th.
  • The launch of the travel system to other data centers has been delayed and will appear in patch 6.1x.
  • The fourth Japanese data center will open in July 2022. The number of worlds has not yet been determined.
  • In August 2022, the fourth North American data center with 4 worlds will open.
  • In the summer of 2023, 4 more worlds will be added for the new North American data center.
  • In July 2022, 4 worlds will be added to European data centers – 2 for each of the existing ones.
  • In the summer of 2023, the third European data center with 8 worlds will open.

At the end of the letter, Yoshida again apologized for the problems and said that the development team is now also working on new content for future 6.x patches and is planning the next major 7.0 expansion. In addition, he promised several announcements at the end of February 2022.
