Go to Baker Street. After talking to Wiggins, on the list you received, underline the name: Patrick Kearns, harpooner.

Connect “Patrick Kearns” with “Peter Carey, non-smoker”. You will receive a task to check on Patrick Kearns.

Go to Holmes’ room and take Sailor from the wardrobe. Using the map, go to the Sea Witch Pub.

arm wrestling

While in the pub, go to the table opposite the entrance. Talk to Patrick and challenge him.

Note that when you hold back your stamina level goes up, and when you push it goes down. In both cases, you need to quickly press the right key (options at the top of the screen). Focus mainly on pushing as that is the only way to win. Be careful with your stamina, but even if its level drops to zero, this does not mean that Kearns will immediately defeat Holmes. Try pushing when the sailor is free and holding back when he is frowning. You must defeat him two times before he speaks.

Ask about all topics (the following evidence will appear in your Case Book: the August 1883 story and the covert murder).

Portrait of Patrick Cairns:

  • Gold earring in the right (from the player’s point of view) ear;

  • Cheap clothes (right sleeve);

  • Strong arms (right forearm);

  • Sailor tattoo on left forearm;

  • Yellow nails (left palm).

Pouch landing.

Tell the man that you need to go to the toilet and go behind his chair. Put the bag from the crime scene in his jacket pocket (drag it down in close-up mode). Ask Patrick Tobacco (evidence to appear in Casebook: Cairns is a smoker).

Connect “Patrick Cairns bag” with “Patrick Cairns”. You will get two options that are mutually exclusive: “The pouch proves a visit” and “The pouch proves guilt.” It’s time to name the culprit.

By pointing out the culprit, you can either let him go or send him to jail.

When the sailor appears at Holmes’ house, you will engage in a fight with him. Hit him in the face a few times – aim at the blue circle. To perform the final hit, press the W key (Y on the pad) when the icon appears on the screen. Attention! This fight can be lost.

Before making a final decision, you can check the rest of the options (“End playback” option).
