As the gamescom 2024 date approaches, the list of participants is taking its final form. It became known that two platform holders decided to skip this event – Nintendo and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Nintendo was present at gamescom 2023 and showed off the Nintendo Switch 2 behind closed doors. In April 2024, the company announced that it would be skipping this year’s show.
Sony Interactive Entertainment last attended the show in 2019 and has no intention of returning. This is reported by the German portal Games Wirtschaft. According to the publication, the cancellation of Sony’s participation is not a surprise, since the company has no major projects for the next six months, including the Christmas holidays. The only exception is Astro Botwhich will be released on September 6, 2024.
Don’t forget that the exhibition will feature many games from third-party developers for consoles from these companies. In addition, it is possible to show some projects at Opening Night Live.
Let us remind you that the gaming exhibition gamescom 2024 will be held in Cologne from August 21 to 25, 2024, and the opening ceremony will take place on August 20.
