Sony Interactive Entertainment Turned The Federal Court of California with a lawsuit against Tencent, accusing the Chinese technological conglomerate of copyright violations and trademarks. The company claims that the game preparing for the exit called Light of Motiram is the “slave clone” of its popular series of adventure video games Horizon.
Sony demanded the payment of monetary compensation, the amount of which is not specified, as well as a court ban that would not allow Tencent to violate its intellectual property rights. The lawsuit indicates that Light of Motiram is borrowed by several distinctive elements of Horizon and can mislead customers. Representatives of the two companies have not yet provided comments on this issue.
Last year, Sony rejected Tencent’s proposal about the joint development of a new game in the Horizon universe. Subsequently, the Chinese company announced Light of Motiram, which, according to Sony, has identical gameplay, plot topics and artistic elements, as well as many other similarities.
