Publisher Square Enix has formed a mobile division in London. Its employees make mobile games based on Lara Croft and Avatar: The Legend of Aang.
Square Enix now has a London-based division dedicated to purely mobile projects. We are promised high quality F2P projects for the whole world. The studio is currently working on Tomb Raider Reloaded, as well as an unannounced game based on Avatar: The Legend of Aang. At the moment, the publisher is still recruiting staff to the team, including developers and marketers. While it is known that the Avatar project is being done jointly with Navigator Games.
For now, we know that Tomb Raider Reloaded should hit smartphones in 2022. Square Enix is also working on Hitman Sniper: The Shadows. Both projects cannot get out of the vicious circle of trial runs. Incidentally, the opening of the London studio was commented on by Ed Perkins, Square Enix’s head of mobile game launch:
“At Square Enix London, we want to change the world with games, and for that we need fresh faces. Now we have cool projects in development, we have access to IP Square Enix and connections with world entertainment companies. But the focus is still on our employees, they are our competitive advantage. ”
