State of Decay 2: How to Play Co-op and Progression Explained

One of the possible game modes in State of Decay 2 is co-op. This mode is useful for those who are interested in gaining influence points, loot, new achievements, and more. However, you won’t get access to it right away. Therefore, let’s figure out how to play State of Decay 2’s co-op mode, and at the same time explain how the progression works in this mode.

How to play co-op mode in State of Decay 2?

First of all, in order to be able to play the State of Decay co-op mode, you need to complete the tutorial mission. After that, the game will inform you that the multiplayer options have become available to you. From now on, you can choose between Offline mode, private play, or play only with friends from your list. Choose whichever you like, because if necessary, you can always change your choice later. You are now ready to create your own game or join someone else’s.

There are a few important things to keep in mind when connecting to someone else’s game. First, you will be attached to it, that is, you will not be able to get lost and get too far from the rest. The maximum distance you can go is approximately 450 meters (about 500 yards). This restriction, in principle, has a certain meaning. After all, if you go too far from the general group, then what’s the point of playing in a cooperative mode? Also, this way the stashes will be safe from people joining the game to loot the host. You can communicate with the rest of the players using the communication ring, like in Sea of Thieves, or using the Xbox Party Chat.

State of Decay 2 co-op progression

The game you join in multiplayer mode will be the “story” of that particular host. Therefore, the progression, base and communities of survivors will be on their own. If you are playing as a guest, this progress will not carry over to your game. But this, of course, does not mean that you are playing completely for nothing, and all the “cream” goes exclusively to the host itself. Playing in co-op mode, you earn achievements, influence points and much more. You can then use the obtained influence points in your own campaign to improve characters (even make community leaders), establish outposts, and so on.

Of course, in addition to all of the above, in the corporate mode of State of Decay 2 you will also receive a lot of various loot, which will also remain with you later. Each player will receive their own color-coded loot that only they can open. In this case, all players will receive different loot. And last but not least, we note the fact that the progression of achievements from the multiplayer mode is transferred to the single player mode. Thus, although the guest does not receive the same number of rewards as the host, there is still a lot of incentive to play in cooperative mode.
