In State of Decay 2, there are four primary resources that your community depends on for survival: food, medical supplies, fuel, and building materials.

Nutrition

It’s hard to imagine being able to survive without food. Nothing is different in State of Decay 2, so it’s important to keep building up your food supply to feed the survivors you care about. It should be borne in mind that food supplies are reduced overnight. As your community grows, so does the demand for food. Food bags have pizza stamps and are most commonly found in restaurants, supermarkets, or other canteens, although you can sometimes find food in the kitchen of one of the regular buildings.

Medicines

Keeping your community healthy will be essential to keeping survivors physically and mentally healthy. When you play State of Decay 2, your characters may suffer from various injuries, minor illnesses, or serious infectious diseases that cannot be cured by simply resting in bed. Stocks of drugs can usually be found in close proximity to pharmacies or various medical facilities. Stocks of medicines are marked with a cross.

Fuel

Fuel is needed when you want to use the car as a vehicle or run a generator. It is also suitable for making explosives and flammable bombs. Fuel reserves are marked with a gas tank icon.

Construction Materials

Required for base development. They can usually be found in close proximity to workshops, unfinished buildings, or sheds. Building materials are indicated by 3 wooden beams.

In addition to the main resources, State of Decay 2 contains many small raw materials, mechanical and electronic components that you will need to repair old weapons or craft ammo. It’s worth picking them all up and storing them in storage because you never know when they might come in handy.

Another important issue that will make a significant contribution to the survival of your community is proper base management. At the beginning of the game, you will have a ruined building that must first be cleared and then progressively expanded. To build additional buildings, such as a workshop or a generator, you need the right amount of building materials.

The base extension can be ordered in a special base management window. Remember that any of your activities require a sufficient number of survivors, it will last a certain time and increase the threat level – so you can be attacked by zombies, attracted by the loud noise coming from the construction site. In the beginning, it is worth having the following extensions:

  • Infirmary – a medical center will take care of the health of the survivors. You will have the opportunity to create small medicines and painkillers, as well as send one of the survivors for treatment if necessary.

  • Generator – Your community will need access to electricity, so you need to install a generator. Remember, however, that you will need the right amount of fuel to run properly.

  • Water Filter – In addition to access to electricity, your community will need access to clean water.

  • Sufficient Beds – As your community starts to grow and grow, you will be forced to provide housing for everyone.

In addition to the above operations, you can install additional mods on any of the available buildings that will be good for the morale of your community. In State of Decay 2, you can put a comfortable chair in your bedroom or provide pesticides in your garden to increase its effectiveness.
