The developers of the city-planning simulator with survival elements Frostpunk 2 talked about how the game now supports custom modifications. In an interview with the portal gamingbolt.com they reported that in the sequel, players will be able to create and install mods, which was not possible in the first part. The original Frostpunk used its own Liquid Engine, so implementing the necessary tools at the time was a challenge. The move to Unreal Engine 5 for the sequel made it much easier to create mods.
As the authors noted, players have long shown great interest in the world of Frostpunk, creating fan fiction, scenarios, and even participating in role-playing games on Reddit. Therefore, they are confident that the modding feature will be welcomed and supported by both fans and the studio itself.
Frostpunk 2 releases September 20th on PC, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in development for release at a later date.
