The Chinese company Tencent has quietly and quietly closed TiMi Studio Montréal. Several former employees reported this on February 20, 2026 on their LinkedIn pages. According to one of them, this development of events was expected, but “this does not make the situation any easier.”
TiMi Studio Montréal was founded in 2021 and was developing a AAA service game with an open world focused on social mechanics and world exploration. The project was supposed to be released on PC and consoles, but there is still no information about it.
It is worth noting that several former Ubisoft employees worked at TiMi Studio Montréal. For example, the position of creative director was held by Ashraf Ismail, a former lead developer of games in the Assassin’s Creed series.
At the moment, the reasons for the closure of the studio and the fate of the game remain under a veil of secrecy. However, the details of the events may soon become known.
