The foldable iPhone, which is expected to be announced today, apparently will not carry the Fold or Ultra prefix. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the gadget will be presented under the name iPhone Duo.
The name is not new to the industry. Microsoft released the two-screen Surface Duo, and Apple itself used the word Duo in the PowerBook Duo line of laptops back in 1995.

The most interesting thing about the report concerns the price. The basic version with 256 GB of memory will cost $2,000, and the top-end configuration with 2 TB will approach $3,000.
This is significantly lower than the forecasts of analysts, who called the starting price at $2,500. According to Gurman, Apple deliberately sacrificed some of the margin to make the new product more affordable and spur demand.
Among the expected characteristics are the new A20 Pro chip and its own C2 modem. The main block of cameras will receive two 48 megapixel sensors, the front camera – 12 megapixels.
Support for the Apple Pencil stylus, which was not previously available on the iPhone, deserves special attention. Also mentioned is a magnetic hinge system, which is responsible for folding the case.
In terms of form factor, the Duo is closest to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. The wide body opens up into a horizontal tablet, convenient for watching videos, and the system allows you to run two applications simultaneously next to each other.
There are two color options – dark blue and white. Sales, according to the report, will begin sometime in October, shortly after the release of the iPhone 18.
Gurman also said that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will rise in price by $100 compared to the previous generation. This is also a more modest increase than insiders expected.
