Round8 studio, known for the success of soulslice Lies Of P and the failure of MMORPG Bless Online, is working on a new game that promises to be a significant step forward for the Korean game developer. The new project will be a sci-fi survival horror game and will be released on PC and unnamed consoles.
According to information from studio representatives, the project is being created based on the Unreal Engine 5. Although the details of the game have not yet been disclosed, the developers are actively recruiting staff to create it, including level designers and scriptwriters.
Last year, Lies of P showed that Korean studios can create competitive games for the global market. The project attracted attention for its high complexity and unique style, which helped it achieve sales of 2 million copies and amass 7 million players, including through its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Building on this success, Round8 is looking to take things to the next level by developing a game in a genre that’s been fueled by titles like Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol. The new project is intended not only to consolidate the success of the studio, but also to support the financial performance of Neowiz, which owns Round8.
Studio representatives admit that creating a game in the SF horror genre is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity to attract a new audience. As experts note, the success of the new project can strengthen the position of Korean developers on the global stage.
The game’s release date and plot details have not yet been revealed, but the project is expected to become one of the main events for the studio in the coming years.
