The mobile adaptation of Valorant was officially announced during the first anniversary celebrations, but what about the console version of the shooter? In a conversation with the overseas portal www.polygon.com, executive producer Anna Donlon confirmed that Riot Games is indeed planning to release it.
At the moment, the console version is not in active development stage, as the team has not yet decided what the game will look like. As Donlon explained, adapting a tactical shooter for gamepads is not an easy task, so the developers decided to focus on Valorant Mobile first:
“Ironically, I really think the transition to mobile was a little easier for us,” Donlon said. “The console seems obvious for FPS, right? […] But releasing a game like a tactical shooter on consoles isn’t easy. It is not easy to achieve this level of competitiveness on a platform where you need to use a controller. And we wouldn’t want to just port the game. […] Thus, we found that the transition to mobile devices will become faster and the development of the mobile version will be easier. ”
From the words of the executive producer, we can conclude that we are waiting for a separate game with its own pace of gameplay, like League of Legends: Wild Rift, and not a direct port. Although this, of course, has not been officially confirmed. One way or another, it is definitely not worth waiting for the release of the console version in the near future.
