The developers of the multiplayer first-person shooter Specter Divide from Mountaintop studio discussed the current state of the game. They admitted that the current online is noticeably lower than expected, but they assure that the project is far from closed. In a recent address, studio co-founder and CEO Nate addressed rumors that the game is “dead” due to low concurrent users.
As the developers emphasized, despite the difficulties, the team is not going to stop working on Specter Divide. The servers will continue to operate and updates will be released regularly. If the number of players continues to decline, the authors plan to merge queues to improve matchmaking, and also actively work to attract new players. The team has invested four years into developing the game and believes in its future despite the current challenges.
The creators also noted that they are proud of their community, which has already played more than 1.42 million matches and 3.67 million hours in the game. They appreciate the support in the form of reviews, streams, and player-created content as it helps increase awareness of Specter Divide. It is noted that the studio has financial support to continue development of the project in the long term.
In the first month, the developers released many improvements, including improved performance, faster character movement, improved progression, lower prices for cosmetic items, and the addition of new servers in various regions. The studio has plans ahead to launch the first battle pass, expand the reward system for players, and introduce new game mechanics.
