Publisher pmang has announced that the Japanese version of MMORPG ArcheAge will be shutting down on December 25, 2024. The official announcement stated in plain text that “due to various factors such as cost, technology and changing market needs, it is becoming increasingly difficult to continue to provide satisfactory high quality gaming content.” Therefore, after negotiations with the developers from XLGames, it was decided to stop supporting the game in the country.

At the same time, information appeared in the South Korean media about the reduction of the team involved in the development and support of ArcheAge. After the layoffs in July 2023, the team remained at 70 people, and in recent days its number was reduced to 30 employees. Half of the people left the company, and the rest were able to find positions in other projects.

At the moment, there are only two versions of the game left: South Korean and CIS, which is published by Astrum Ent. Let us recall that in June 2024, Kakao Games closed the Western version, and in September Tencent turned off the Chinese servers.
