Bandai Namco Online has announced that it will no longer develop and support the anime MMORPG Blue Protocol. The Japanese version will be closed on January 18, 2025, and the global version, published by Amazon Games, has been cancelled. This became known from a letter from the developers published on the official game website. Until the appointed date, the game will receive small updates and various events so that players can enjoy the last days of support for the project.
“We know that Blue Protocol has been highly anticipated since the game was first announced. We wanted to give you an anime-like experience, and we aimed to create a world where every player can enjoy the adventure of being an anime protagonist. We have been diligently preparing for the release, but have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to provide a service that will satisfy all of you,” – Blue Protocol development team.
“We know this is disappointing news and we share your disappointment. We love the world and characters of BLUE PROTOCOL and were excited to welcome players around the world to Regnas. We join Bandai Namco Online in expressing our deepest gratitude to the passionate fans who followed the development of BLUE PROTOCOL and participated in closed technical testing.” – Amazon Games Publishing Team.
Blue Protocol is an MMORPG from the Project Sky Blue studio and Bandai Namco Online, made in anime style. The project was released in Japan on June 14, 2023 and at the start attracted the attention of players with its style and atmosphere. However, it caused criticism from players regarding the presentation of content and some game mechanics. The developers tried to remake the project, but, judging by this news, this did not help the fate of the project.
