Riot Games has revealed the location of the finals of the 2024 MOBA League of Legends World Championship. The event will take place in November 2024 at the legendary O2 Arena located in London, UK.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing the World Finals to the UK for the first time,” said Naz Aletaha, Head of Global LoL Esports. “The World Championship is a global celebration of the best in League of Legends, and London’s rich history and modern metropolis provides the perfect backdrop for the biggest stage in our sport. We were blown away by the passion and energy of the fans in London during the 2023 off-season and we look forward to seeing them at the O2, where our finalists will share the stage with many of the icons who came before them.”
The news was even commented on by the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, who announced support for esports in the city:
“London is a leading destination for eSports competition and it is fantastic that we will be hosting the League of Legends World Championship Finals next year,” said Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London. “This event will bring together eSports fans from all over the world, and will also demonstrate the advanced gaming industry of our capital. I will continue to do everything I can to support the development and growth of esports in London as we build a better London for everyone.”
Note that the O2 Arena can accommodate up to 20,000 people, which means we will have an even grander finale than last year.
