Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by CD Projekt RED veterans who worked on the third Witcher, continues to support its vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker updates after release. The game has only recently been released, but the developers have already released several hotfixes, and the latest one, patch 1.0.4, turned out to be especially noteworthy.

In addition to standard bug fixes, the list of changes included several wordings that look more funny than serious. One of the patch notes states that “torches can no longer grow uncontrollably.” Apparently, there was a bug in the game that caused the light source to literally increase in size without any restrictions, turning into something absurd.

Another point was no less curious: “dead NPCs can no longer start dialogues.” Formally, this is a fix for a technical error due to which dead characters, including guards or zombie nuns, could unexpectedly speak to the main character Cohen. For a player who has not personally encountered this bug, the very thought of talking to a corpse in the middle of a dungeon sounds like a separate plot twist.

The disappearance of the placeholder asset, which the developers apparently accidentally left in the prologue of the game, deserves special mention. We are talking about a bright red pipe with the words “DO NOT USE” repeated across its surface, seen by players in the silver mines. In the patch note, the studio put it this way: “we’re no longer using that red pipe that we shouldn’t have used.”

Despite the comical wording, hotfix 1.0.4 also carries a very serious functional load. Rebel Wolves fixed many bugs, crashes and softlocks, and also announced an overall improvement in the stability of the game. The developers continue to fine-tune the title, eliminating both critical and minor technical problems that inevitably pop up after the release of a major open-world RPG.

As for future plans, for now Rebel Wolves is limited to small patches without major gameplay changes. Players are hoping for more extensive improvements, including a possible rework of the combat system, although the studio has not given official confirmation of such plans. For now, all that remains is to follow new updates The Blood of Dawnwalker and wait to see if the studio will present another patch note with unexpected wording.
