After numerous leaks, rumors and teasers, publisher Electroinc Arts has officially announced the new installment of the Battlefield shooter series during a live stream. The next game will not be called Battlefield 6, as many assumed, but Battlefield 2042.
The new part is devoted to the conflict between the United States and Russia, which are on the brink of war, and the actions will unfold in the near future. However, there will be no story campaign. The game will be extremely multiplayer – with seven large maps at the start, accommodating up to 128 people (or up to 64 on the old generation of consoles). They promise advanced customization of weapons, equipment and gadgets. One of the innovations will be the system of Specialists, who are heroes with unique traits. The weapons and equipment for them are still customizable.
The release of Battlefield 2042 will take place on October 22 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and EA Play Pro PC subscribers will be able to start playing on October 15. In July, the developers are going to conduct alpha testing, and the MBT will also take place by the release.
