11 BIT Studios announced the release of a plot-oriented survival simulator with controls called The Alters. The game is available on PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. The Alters is a science fiction game with survival elements, in which the player has to take the role of Jan Dolski, the only survivor after the accident on a hostile planet. To save life and ensure the functioning of a mobile base, Jan creates alternative versions of himself – alter, each of which reflects various elections and missed opportunities from his past. These copies have unique skills and character traits, which makes interaction with them not only a resource for survival, but also a source of moral and psychological stresses. The gameplay combines the management of the base, the collection of resources, the avoidance of the hazards of the external environment and the analysis of complex relationships with alter.
Throughout the game, you will make decisions that determine the fate of Jan and his copies, explore the consequences of the elections made in the past and face issues of personal responsibility, fate and self -determination. The use of quantum simulations, the construction of new modules, planning tasks taking into account dangerous anomalies and radiation, as well as moral dilemmas in relations between alter form a deep narrative with several endings.
