The developers of the celestial survival simulator Aloft presented the first major patch of 2026, called “Tailwind,” focused on flight mechanics and the arrangement of air bases. The main focus of the update is on expanding the customization options for gliders. Players have access to dozens of new visual elements, including six frame shapes, more than twenty patterns, and special trails that remain in the air when moving. In addition, the game has introduced a system of functional improvements to fabric and nine variants of the “eye”, which provide unique bonuses when exploring high-altitude islands.
To obtain new cosmetic options, players will have to demonstrate their piloting skills. Islands of Wonder features six race tracks and additional time trials created using the game’s internal logic system. Successfully completing these stages will reward you with rare forms and visual effects. Also on the islands you can now find the wreckage of ancient aircraft, the collection of which opens up access to archival drawings and lost ornaments.
The construction component of the game has been replenished with an impressive set of decorations. The sky captains had more than 200 new objects at their disposal, including specialized display cases for displaying gliders, kitchen utensils and tool storage systems. At the same time, the authors adjusted the physics of control in the air, making maneuvering more responsive.
