There are still more than three months left until Avengers: Judgment Day opens in theaters, but the film has already set an impressive record for ticket sales long before its release. Disney officially confirmedthat the film has surpassed the $50 million mark in domestic pre-sales in the United States.

This information was announced by Disney Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston during a speech at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. According to him, “Avengers: Judgment Day” became the first film in history to achieve this level of pre-sales a full 100 days before release.

The result looks especially impressive considering that the new part will be the first Avengers film in seven years. The franchise has traditionally demonstrated strong box office results – Avengers: Endgame still holds the title of the highest-grossing Marvel film of all time and ranks second among the highest-grossing films in the world with a result of $2.79 billion. Given the current pace of sales of “Judgment Day”, the new part may well break this record.

However, the competition for the new product is not only from external rivals, but also from another project from Marvel itself. Spider-Man: New Day is still running at the box office and is rapidly approaching Endgame’s record-breaking numbers. An additional complication is that Judgment Day will be released on the same day as Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which has already secured exclusive IMAX rights in the United States for the first three weeks of release.

To get around this limitation, Disney decided to introduce its own premium display format called Infinity Vision. This step will allow the studio to offer viewers an alternative to the usual IMAX and not lose an audience focused on large-scale visual experiences.

Avengers: Judgment Day will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
