The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018, where we were shown a short teaser. In the same year, we saw the announcement of the space game Starfield, about which much more information is currently known. According to Todd Howard, both projects are made on the Creation Engine 2 and the next part of the Elder Scrolls will benefit from the development of Starfield. He also says that most of the Bethesda employees are working on the sci-fi project.
This means that Starfield could be released faster (target date of release – November 2022 on platforms that support Xbox Game Pass). This was hinted at in May 2020 by Pete Hines, Bethesda’s VP of Marketing; he said that the community is unlikely to hear news about TES 6 until the completion of work on Starfield.
Nevertheless, the two projects are “intertwined,” as Howard says, so information about one can, with a high degree of probability, be transferred to the other project. For example, the developers promise in Starfield the largest interface rework since Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. One way or another, the release of both games is still far away and Bethesda is trying not to warm up the interest of gamers ahead of time, as it was with Cyberpunk 2077.
