Popular social media apps have lite versions designed for markets where the network is not yet reliable or internet services are costly. These lightweight apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, and Twitter Lite are also the best option for phones with limited resources as they take up less storage and require less processing power. Facebook today announced a new Instagram Lite app, which has joined the list of simplified apps for Android phones.
This is really a new app, because if you remember, the old version was closed by Facebook earlier this year. Facebook announced the launch of this new app today at an event in India called “Facebook Fuel for India.” The Instagram Lite app, which has a file size of just under 2MB, lacks some of the features you’ll find in the main app, such as Reels, Shopping, and IGTVto provide faster work even with reduced capabilities. If you are one of those who do not prioritize the aforementioned features, then the Instagram Lite app is for you.
Presently Instagram Lite app geography is limited to India and is available in several local languages, including Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Not surprisingly, India is the first to receive the app. South Asian state is the country with the most Facebook users – over 310 million users, according to Statista’s November 2020 report. Facebook says it plans to expand access to the app to more countries after testing India’s new product. However, the ability to download the APK is available today.
Support for the original Instagram Lite app was previously discontinued in May due to some unresolved issues. A new app posted on the Play Store earlier this month already has about 5 million downloads…
