Trailer and key art
New profession Viper
Viper, a new original profession coming to Final Fantasy XIV. This is a melee damage dealer, aimed at fans of dual-wielding characters, but different from Ninja. Their equipment falls into the same category as the Ninja: it is geared towards agility. They use dual blades that can be combined into a double-edged weapon held in one hand.
Their style is close combat, passed down from the Turali hunters, and they fight so quickly that they appear to be under a haste spell. Vipers alternate between attacking enemies with quick strikes from their dual blades and delivering powerful strikes with their combined weapons. They can call upon the memories of ancient hunters contained in their soul crystal and imbue their body with additional power for a short period of time.
Viper is a job that is designed to be a technically challenging and very stylish melee class with frequent opportunities for players to use abilities in between using weapons.
To unlock this profession, you need to purchase the Dawntrail expansion and upgrade any one profession to level 80 in order to begin completing the necessary task in Uldah. There are no required classes required.
Additionally, the profession limit will be increased to 100 for all roles, and new equipment will be introduced. Also in the second part of the 7.x patch series, a new limited profession will be added.
The story of Dawntrail’s expansion has been described as “a summer vacation in the far western lands of Tural.” Players who completed the first part of the story of patch 6.5 got an idea of the upcoming scenario, but in the second part (6.55) you will get a better look at what awaits the Warrior of Light and the Descendants of the Seventh Dawn.
“When the light of hope dawns again, the hero rushes to new horizons… The wind of opportunity brings a visitor from the far west, seeking the help of the Warrior of Light in the ritual of succession to determine the next ruler of Tural. Together with Alphinaud, Alisai and Ehrenvil, the Warrior of Light embarks on a journey through the Indigo Deep. If the rumors turn out to be true, the competition could lead them to the fabulous gates of the golden city. But they do not yet know that as a result of this competition, the tribe of the Descendants will also be divided…”
A Warrior of Light is asked to travel west to assist in a succession ritual. In Tural, not all Scions will be of the same opinion when it comes to the ritual of succession. The theme of the expansion is a journey of discovery, and it will contain a similar amount of content to a single-player RPG. The main questions you will have to ask concern the nature of the succession struggle itself, what awaits in the Tural region, and what is the truth about the golden city.
New tribe Moblins
Moblins are a people native to the Kozama’uka jungle. They are very similar to goblins, with whom they share common ancestors.
Moblins are known for their ability to mine useful resources, no matter how rare, and they welcome skilled artisans from other races, providing them with the creative atmosphere and quality materials necessary for artisans to thrive.
“We are expanding our horizons from the well-explored Three Great Continents to the Indigo depths, where adventure awaits under the western skies.”
The southern region of Tural is called Yok Tural, and it is the city of Tuliollal that the Warrior of Light and the Descendants of the Seventh Dawn will use as a hub of sorts. Situated in the north of Yok Tural, Tuliollal is the seat of the federal nation state that governs Tural. Its leader is a two-headed mamul-ja named Gulul Ja Ja. Tuliollal is a pluralistic city with an established sea trade route with Old Sharlayan.
In the footage shown by the team, you can see a sprawling tropical city. Sound director Masayoshi Soken says the soundtrack is still in progress and no NPCs have been added yet.
Yak T’el & Urqopacha
These areas are still under development and the team is focusing on creating natural landscapes. According to the team, with the first graphical update, you will notice that these locations are visually better than the previous ones.
Kozama’uka is a tropical region located south of Tuliollal. Countless rivers and streams flow from the western cliffs, forming breathtaking waterfalls.
This dense jungle is home to several peoples, including some that resemble goblins, each maintaining their own culture.
The team says the area is unique compared to locations the team has created in the past. Particular attention is paid here to lighting.
This arid region is located in the central part of Tural. Vegetation on the rain-starved plains is sparse, and the open spaces provide a striking contrast to the greenery of the region’s largest lake.
The discovery of ceruleum deposits in recent years has led to radical changes in the area, including the construction of a railway, even as local residents maintain their cultural traditions.
There’s something on the map that’s a big secret, and the team wanted to make sure you see it in the game. Here you will meet the machines and the people who built them.
There will be new dungeons in the game that will be compatible with the Duty Support feature, where new characters will be able to join you in addition to the returning ones.
Pictured below are a river cruise, a sunlit cave, and a mountainside with giant purple crystals jutting out from his face.
In the illustrations released to help the 3D modeling team, we also see the interior of the ruins, as well as some highly mechanized areas that seem somewhat mysterious at the moment.
New threat – Eliminator
In addition to the previously revealed Valigarmanda, a new threat has emerged: the Eliminator. Not much is known about this creature, including whether it is made of flesh or machinery.
New Alliance Raid – Echoes of Vana’diel
The new series of alliance raids will be a collaboration with Final Fantasy XI in honor of the 20+ years of existence of this MMO. Details about locations, NPCs and bosses are kept secret for now.
In addition to all of the above, players can expect many other changes, including:
- Increased level cap from 90 to 100.
- Main combat content including FATE, hunts, treasure hunts and side quests.
- Improved Duty Support feature.
- New equipment items and recipes.
- A lot of “life” content.
- Changes to PvP.
- Improved graphics
- … and much more.
