Publisher WEBZEN announced about the beginning of the development of a new strategy based on the popular manhwa “I Became the Tyrant of a Defense Game”. The development is being carried out by a subsidiary of WEBZEN CREBIZ, and the release is expected both in South Korea and on the international market. The release date and list of platforms have not yet been announced.
The new game will be a complex hybrid genre combining elements of Tower Defense and Dungeon Offense. Development is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and the visual style is a sophisticated 2.5D pixel art visual designed to accurately reproduce the characters and environments of the original webtoon.
The manhwa I Am a Tyrant in a Defense Game is based on the novel of the same name. The story tells of the main character who completed an incredibly difficult game to the end, after which he found himself transported into the body of his character. The plot focuses on his struggle for survival, development and complex relationships with other characters. Both the novel and the webtoon have gained a wide fan base due to their detailed plot development and emotional characterization. The developers plan to add original ideas and mechanics to the game to make it different from existing projects on the market.
In parallel with development, WEBZEN CREBIZ studio is actively recruiting employees to work on a new project codenamed Project D1. There are open vacancies in the areas of game design (mechanics, balance, combat system), programming (client, server) and art (pixel design, concept art, effects, UI).
