Amazon Games will conduct open testing of the MMORPG Throne and Liberty from July 18 to July 23, 2024. Will the game be available in the CIS?
Publisher Amazon Games, during the announcement of the agreement with NCSOFT, outlined the regions in which it will develop the game: North and South America, Europe and Japan. Subsequently, the exact list of countries became known thanks to the steamdb.info portal:

Were there any restrictions during the closed testing of the game?
During the first closed test, publisher Amazon Games specifically provided access for players from all over the world to test the server architecture and see how the game works with different pings. The second test was carried out with a regional restriction, and players from the CIS had to find workarounds.
Judging by the feedback from participants Russian speaking discord in most cases it was necessary to resort to the constant use of third-party programs to change ip. An approximate picture based on the results of the second CBT of the global version:
- The game is not available for steam accounts from Moldova, but there were no IP restrictions for this country.
- The game is not available to players from Ukraine on Steam, and during the second CBT of Throne and Liberty there was a connection restriction. However, players reported that access to the game was possible depending on the provider.
- In Russia, the Republic of Belarus and Kazakhstan, the game is not available on Steam, and when trying to connect, players only saw a black screen.
- On Xbox S/X and PlayStation 5 consoles, the issued keys were not activated on accounts from the CIS, and new accounts had to be created and IP changed during the game.
Will there be regional restrictions on OBT and release by Amazon Games?
Yes, with a 99.9% probability. For some unknown reason, there is a statement that there have been and will not be any restrictions for residents of the CIS by IP. It is unclear on what basis these statements are based.
Will NCSOFT be testing in Asia?
It is likely that the game will simply be launched in Asia without any tests. NCSOFT currently has a Korean version of the game, and the launch of a new server on July 24 will allow you to test all possible aspects.
Will NCSOFT open free access to servers in Asia?
There is a chance that there will be no restrictions on access to servers in Asia for residents from the CIS. However, problems may arise due to high ping. Perhaps around the beginning of August, NCSOFT will reveal details about the publication of its regional version of the game.
Will there be differences between the regional versions from Amazon Games and NCSOFT?
The developer and publisher have repeatedly stated that there will be no differences between the versions. Separately, we note that regional versions of the game will eventually “catch up” with the South Korean version in development.
Which Steam country should I choose to play the global version?
If you plan to just watch the game and play without purchasing goods, you can register a new account in any of the available countries. However, to register a new account, you will need to change your IP: either ask your friends to do this, or use third-party programs. Please note that in some cases Steam may refuse to create an account if you use an overly popular service to change your IP.
If you want to transfer your main account to another country, you must make a purchase in the currency of that country. To do this, you will need a bank card and, in some cases, additional payment information.
According to unconfirmed reports, Amazon Games is preparing three starter packs. If you are interested in purchasing them, then you should think in advance about choosing a country and methods for replenishing your account. Judging by preliminary information, gifting sets between steam regions will be prohibited, and there will not be a significant difference in price. Can you get banned?
It all depends on the wishes of Amazon Games. As practice shows, all services for changing IP and bypassing regional restrictions use the capabilities of data centers with a fixed set of IP addresses, which is easily identified. The publisher has already pursued a similar policy in relation to players of the MMORPG Lost Ark during the hunt for bots, RMT players, and cheaters, and therefore we should not forget about this development of the situation.
What will happen in the open test of the global version?
Amazon Games has only outlined the main events that will be available in the OBT. The main disappointment was the absence of the most massive events in the game: castle siege and tax delivery. Instead, the publisher suggests focusing on testing the translation and participating in PvP, PvE and GvG events, mastering cooperative dungeons, killing world and archbosses, and fighting for Boonstone and Riftstone.
Will any server be selected for Russian-speaking players?
According to our information, Amazon Games plans to launch several servers at the start of OBT and gradually open new ones as the number of players grows. At the moment, the idea of a priority server for Russian-speaking players is not being discussed for a number of reasons. How can I receive a reward for participating in the July OBT?
For participation in OBT, Amazon Games will give all participants two Amitoi at release: Shadow Mayhem Amitoi and Radiant Charm Amitoi. To receive it you need to go to this page and log in using your Steam, Xbox Live or PlayStation account. After that, on the Account Linking tab, check whether the required account is linked correctly. Most likely, these amitoi will not be part of game collections, which provide small bonuses to the character.
