Apocalypse works great as a surprise filter. When super mutants, two-headed cows and talkative ghouls walk through the wasteland, a little green man the size of a child ceases to be a sensation – but a working refrigerator looks like a real miracle of technology.
It was this logic that worked in the second season Falloutwhere the Knights of the Brotherhood of Steel stumble upon a freezer with a preserved alien inside and react to the discovery with complete indifference.
The gag is obvious, referencing both Area 51 and the infamous refrigerator from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But on Reddit, a joke grew out of a completely working theory: the Brotherhood was not surprised, because the Zetans are not new to them for a long time.

From a canonical point of view, the foundation of the version is strong. In Fallout 3, alien energy cells lie right in the arsenals of the Brotherhood and the breakaway Outcasts, the Mothership Zeta add-on shows that the Zetans have been abducting people from Earth for centuries (a samurai, a cowboy, and a soldier of the war with China are found in the hold of the ship), and the Brotherhood itself grew out of the military base of Mariposa, that is, from people who had access to the most secret archives of the old world.
One of the discussion participants reasonably noted that knowing about the existence of aliens and considering them useful are two different things: the plate falls, the weapon is picked up, the case is closed.

Someone noted that the real heresy was committed not by the soldiers, but by the scriptwriters: a high-tech cult that worships pre-war hardware, in a military base of maximum secrecy, would have to sift through trash cans and examine staplers under a microscope.
A separate detachment also passed by this, using a perfectly preserved car as a target. However, the Western Brotherhood has always been tight on resources, and a working refrigerator is truly more valuable to them than any corpse.
