The first nightmare may occur in the orphanage when you find the bed shown in the picture. Interacting with it will transport you to a Nightmare Set in a 3D Wolfenstein level. Nightmare is available in the first chapter called Prison.
Inside a nightmare
In a nightmare, you must find a way out. The secondary objective is to collect all of the Silver Tablets scattered throughout the level. As you explore, keep two basic rules in mind. The first is to walk along the walls and inspect them one by one. By doing this, you will unlock secret rooms where you can find not only ammo and armor, but also the silver plates needed to unlock the collectible character.
The commander is the strongest opponent in the nightmare
During the exploration, you will encounter enemies. These are dogs (which are actually more dangerous than guards), guards armed with pistols, and commanders with machine guns. The map above shows the location of all Silver Tablets, Items, and Aid Kits. There are 62 Silver Plates in the first Nightmare – collecting them will unlock the Nightmare Collectible Clockwork.
The bed can be found in the passage where you board the boat, near the main entrance to Wolfenstein Castle. The boat itself is on the right. When you get to the place shown in the picture, you will be able to experience the second nightmare. The second nightmare in the second chapter called “Docks”.
The minigun is one of the weapons hidden in the nightmare.
In this nightmare, follow the same rules as in the first. As you survey the area, stay close to the walls so you don’t miss any of the secret rooms. As with the first one, your task is to find the exit and the silver plates. They are all marked on the map, so you can find all the secrets in the nightmare.
One of the secret rooms
The picture above shows the place where you can get to using the secret passage. There are many of them, and each is marked on the map. The spot in the picture also has the silver plates needed to unlock the collectible character. To unlock Rifle Sentinel, you need to collect all 66 Silver Plates.
Secret passage to nightmare
The third nightmare is found in the third chapter, entitled Fortress Wolfenstein. After reaching the ventilation shaft, you will reach the place shown in the picture. To find the bed, you need to jump over the crash barrier. There, on the lower floor, you will find a bed.
Silver plates are required to unlock the collectible character
As in the previous nightmares, hold on to the walls as you explore the area. At any time, you can find the secret passage marked on the map above. While exploring, watch out for enemies.
The picture above shows one of the closed gates in this nightmare. Behind it there is an exit and the rest of the silver plates. To open it, you need to collect the key marked on the map. Collecting all 40 silver plates will unlock another collectible guard character.
Bed in a hotel.
Nightmare #4 is found in the fourth chapter called Escape. To start the nightmare, you need to get inside the inn, as seen in the picture. Before following Anette to the exit, go up the stairs shown in the picture, there is a bed on the left as well.
As in previous nightmares, your goal is to find a way out. With this, you can also unlock another collectible character by finding some silver tablets as shown in the picture. Follow the same rules as with the previous nightmares. You can use the map to find extra ammo or health before fighting the commander.
The elevator will take you to the exit
After collecting all the silver tablets marked on the map, take the key and go to the elevator shown in the picture. Waking up will unlock a new collectible character. It is required to collect all 73 plates.
Bed No. 5
Nightmare #5 is in the fifth chapter called Wulfburg. The bed itself is at the entrance to the hotel. While in the square with the market carts, take the first left to get to the nightmare starter.
As with the previous nightmares, keep your weapons out of the way when exploring the area. The picture above shows the place where you have to fight with two commanders. The commander is very tough. The best tactic to kill them both is to use cover (the red wall as shown) and peek out while they reload. This way you will avoid potential damage and mission failure. After collecting all the silver tablets marked on the map, go to the exit – you will unlock another collectible character.
The sixth nightmare can be experienced in the sixth chapter. The bed is on the bridge, where you will also find a piece of gold #46, as shown in the picture.
When playing another Wolfenstein 3D mission, follow the same rules as before. Explore the entire map looking for the secret passages marked on the map. To fight enemies, you will need weapons and ammo, which can be taken from dead enemies and in hidden rooms. After collecting all 18 silver plates and the key, head to the elevator as marked on the map to leave the nightmare. This way you will unlock another collectible character, the red sentinel from the nightmare.
Bed No. 7
The last but one nightmare in the seventh chapter called Old Town. To get to the bed shown in the picture, you need to swim across the channel near the bridge. When you get there, exit the water and you will be near the place.
The key that opens the exit
When exploring a nightmare, follow the same rules as before. Destroy opponents, collect ammo and search every corner. The map above should help you find all the secret passages and the key that opens the way to the elevator. After collecting all 16 silver tablets marked on the map, take the key and go to the exit. This way you will unlock another collectible character, the White Guardian from Nightmare.
Road to nightmare
Eight nightmares in the last chapter, called Dig Site. Immediately after getting a piece of gold #61, turn around and go to the far end of the corridor. You will find yourself in the place shown in the picture. After jumping down, approach the passage and on the other side you will find a bed, starting from the last nightmare.
The eighth and final nightmare is the boss fight. He is much tougher than the guards and commanders known from previous chapters. To defeat him, take out the automatic rifle, then open the first door and hide behind the wall. At the start of the fight, you won’t be able to harm the boss as he’s too far away. Wait patiently for him to get close enough, and while still behind cover, start shooting. Shoot in short bursts due to low clip capacity and high recoil. After winning the fight, approach the dead and collect the key, as seen in the picture. Before you get to the exit, collect all 10 silver tablets marked on the map. When you wake up, you will receive the final collectible character, Hans Gross.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a standalone expansion to the successful Wolfenstein: New Order. This first person shooter is powered by an id Tech 5 engine based on OpenGL technology. This guide was prepared for the PC version of a computer with an Intel Core i5 4460 processor, AMD Radeon R9 270×2 GB graphics card and 8 GB RAM. The game has enough graphical settings to adjust it to various configurations. Due to outdated drivers and low V-RAM, the aforementioned system was unable to maintain a stable 60fps at the highest settings and FullHD (1920×1080) resolution. The highest settings (Ultra) were not playable despite reaching 30 fps (due to too low graphics card memory). Optimal comfort (60 FPS) was achieved at high settings (reduced anti-aliasing). Whereas the same engine was used in New Order, such drastic frame drops are bad for game optimization. However, after adjusting the settings properly to enjoy smooth gameplay, there were no bugs, stutters, or frame drops. Users of Nvidia graphics cards can use system acceleration with CUDA cores, which can be enabled in display settings.
This Wolfenstein: The Old Blood guide has been prepared using the PC version with the following configuration:
Processor – Intel Core i5 4460
Video Card – MSI Radeon R9 270x
RAM – 8 GB
V-RAM – 2 GB
Operating system – Windows 7, 64bit
The above configuration allowed for smooth gameplay in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood with appropriate graphics settings. There were no frame drops or graphical errors throughout the gameplay.
