Jae Kyung Sun (known as Jake Song outside of South Korea) is a well-known figure in the South Korean video game industry. He was at the origins of the Nexon company and worked on the MMORPG Lineage. In 2003, he was one of the founders of the company XLGAMES, which released the MMORPG ArcheAge in 2013 and is now actively working on ArcheAge 2.

Since the founding of XLGAMES, Jake Song has served as the company’s CEO and simultaneously led game development. But on July 31, 2023, he suddenly left his leadership post to focus on creating ArcheAge 2. This event happened unexpectedly for both the South Korean media and the company’s employees.

At the financial report for the 2nd quarter of 2023, a representative of Kakao Games said that the development of ArcheAge 2 is planned to be completed in the second half of 2024. The project may require additional participation from Jake Song in order to meet the specified deadline.
