The authors of the action role-playing game Vindictus: Defying Fate shared details of the upcoming pre-alpha testing. As expected, there will be very little content during this stage, since the project is still in the early stages of development. However, now players will be able to evaluate the basic mechanics to give the team direction in the development of the game.
About pre-alpha
The key to this pre-alpha test is the combat system.
During the testing period, you will be able to choose one of two characters to suit your taste.
All characters use “Normal Attacks” and “Enhanced Attacks”, which can be combined to create different combos.
In addition, each character has four of their own “Active Skills” and “Evasion”.
There are currently two playable locations in the game: Northern Ruins and Frozen Valley.
When you first start, you will only be able to go to the Frozen Valley after completing the Northern Ruins.
After completing the Northern Ruins, you will be able to select the battlefields you want to play on:
- Northern ruins
- frozen valley
Among the various monsters you will encounter during the game, boss monsters have unique attacks that are different from the normal ones.
Please note that these special attacks cannot be defended or dodged.
Game Features
Camp
In the camp you can restore health and items used during battles.
Camps emit a blue light pillar on the map so you can see them. Using [E] on the keyboard, you can activate the camp.
Key Features
- You can rest to restore your health and used items.
- By clicking on the camp icon on the map, you can teleport between activated camps.
- If you are killed in battle, the game will start from the previous camp point.
Game modes
In this pre-alpha test you can experience two different game modes:
One is Normal Mode, which allows you to use HP potions during the game, and the other is Plus Mode, which allows you to use no items.
Plus mode is unlocked only after completing all fields and bosses in normal mode.

Pre-alpha test content
In the game menu (key [ESC]) you can access different costumes and character emotes for free, and also use the photo mode to take screenshots from different angles.
All this content is temporary for pre-alpha testing and may change during development.
- Costumes – You can try on several test suits. Currently, the developers do not offer combinations of costume parts, but they plan to implement this feature in the future.
- Emotions – All emotions are for testing purposes and have no bearing on the concept or personality of the characters.
- Photo Mode – The feature is currently minimized and only has basic functionality.
About the characters
All characters in Vindictus: Defying Fate offer different fighting styles designed specifically for each character. They offer their unique sense of impact and speed.
The developers recommend choosing any character to your taste to get the maximum gaming experience.
During this pre-alpha test, only two characters will be available: Fiona and Lann. However, the authors plan to add more as development continues.
Gamepad control
You can play using your keyboard and mouse. But since the game was designed with a gamepad in mind, the game also supports gamepad controls starting from the pre-alpha stage.
The game is currently compatible with Xbox controllers, and the rumble features will be updated in the future.
