Kakao Games announced new details of the expected MMORPG Chrono Odyssey and shared new information. During the financial report for the 1st quarter of 2024, company representatives were asked to comment on the transaction with NPixel and expectations from the project. And the answer turned out to be quite interesting. So, the most interesting answer from Kakao Games CEO Sangwoo Han:
Chrono Odyssey is a game that emphasizes story and dynamic action across time and space in a huge open world. The project is being created for consoles and PC. First game trailerreleased in December 2020, was viewed by 2.3 million people, and trailershown as part of GDC, received more than 3 million total views on different channels.
The publisher cited four reasons why Chrono Odyssey has great potential for success in Korea and around the world:
- The game is being developed as a balanced version for consoles and PC, and the monetization model is created with B2P (buy to play) in mind.
- The user interface, characters, and degree of freedom have been polished through countless user and internal tests. The immersion in the narrative is very high because the game shows a unique world that crosses time and space, which can be easily understood and perceived by a global audience.
- The game features character skills that make monster hunting fun for every class. The combat system is on par with single-player games, despite being a world-class MMO. The game is very exciting because it has extensive content, a unique universe and many mechanics.
- Kakao Games has extensive experience in publishing games, including the global version of Black Desert and various mobile projects. In addition, the publisher has the necessary infrastructure, staff and necessary services.
At the moment it is difficult to talk about any marketing plans or timing, since all negotiations are currently confidential. However, we can openly say that Chrono Odyssey is planned for release in 2025.
