The developers of the MMORPG Mabinogi spoke about a large-scale update of Eternity, in which the game will switch to Unreal Engine 5. This event is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release of the project in South Korea, where the game is still popular.
In addition, a special pagewhere the authors share short news about the development progress of the update: transfer of graphic elements from the old version of the game, comparison of old and new animations, examples of new graphics and updates to familiar characters.
Min Kyung Hoon, the game’s director, said that the development team’s goal is to continue on the path that the original game took. Therefore, they carefully transfer all the content that has appeared in the game over the decades. The volume is truly fantastic, and at the moment it is difficult to give a time frame for completing all the work.
The developers’ plans also include:
- Redesigning the server structure and logic to make it more stable.
- Recreate all content on a new engine.
- Transfer all game scripts, and in some cases update or rewrite them completely.
