Korean company NCSOFT announced the signing of a strategic global business partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Under this agreement, they will collaborate in various areas of global business, including mobile.
The heads of the two companies met and jointly signed a partnership agreement. The two companies are evaluating a number of potential opportunities to develop strategic synergies by leveraging NCSOFT’s technological prowess and SIE’s global leadership in entertainment.
“This partnership with SIE is the beginning of our efforts to create various synergies that leverage the core competencies, technological capabilities and experience of both companies,” said Taekjin Kim, President and CEO of NCSOFT. “We will provide a new and enjoyable experience for our audiences across all genres and regions.”
“The collaboration with NCSOFT furthers our strategy to expand beyond consoles and expand PlayStation’s reach to a broader audience,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SIE. “Like SIE, NCSOFT shares a similar vision in creating high-quality, immersive entertainment experiences for players around the world, and together we are excited to collaborate to push the boundaries of gaming.”
At the moment, there is no information about how exactly this collaboration will affect gamers themselves. It is possible that Sony is thus trying to take a larger share of the mobile market and replenish the catalog of games for the PlayStation 5 with projects from NCSOFT. One way or another, we just have to wait for official announcements.
