The developers of the popular sandbox Valheim announced that in the first half of 2024 the volcanic biome “Ashlands” will be added. Before release, the update will be installed on public test servers, after which it will appear on the main servers. The exact dates, unfortunately, are not reported.
One of the new types of monsters that inhabit the biome is called “Charred”. These are burnt skeletons that walk towards the player, rather than running like regular mobs. When creating them, the authors were inspired by the T-800 terminator models from the film “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”.
The developers tried to carefully approach the development of new monsters, weapons and mechanics, and not just externally change old models and ideas. We can expect new dishes, plants that can grow in volcanic terrain, armor and much more.
