What was shown at the presentation of the updated version of the MMORPG Throne and Liberty at G-Star 2023

NCSOFT has demonstrated an updated version of its MMORPG Throne and Liberty. After conducting several tests and criticizing some elements of the game, the developers promised to correct the controversial issues. At the G-Star 2023 exhibition, the developers presented the prepared changes and showed the gameplay of some activities.

The game demo began with Taedal’s Tower, a dungeon for one person in which you will have to fight bosses. In addition to the bosses of floors 11 and 18, as well as their mechanics, we were shown a new interface, which is different from what we saw in tests. Now we can use not only the numbers from 1 to 9, but also the Q, E, R keys.

The character’s skill menu has also been reworked. The screenshot shows how active and passive skills were divided among themselves: to the left and to the right of the weapon, respectively. In total, each weapon has 10 active and 8 passive skills. Of these, you can choose only 12 active and 8 passive skills to customize your character.

According to the developers, there were many requests to add party dungeons to the game to add variety and interest to players. And they showed the first example of such a dungeon for a team of six people. We were shown a boss that looked like a tree and had several different attacks. The tactics for killing him are simple: we avoid massive attacks and block strong attacks by pressing our defensive skill in time. It is likely that completing such bosses and dungeons will require players to use certain combinations of weapons to obtain the usual “holy trinity”: tank, heal, damage control.

The game demonstration ended with the murder of the clan boss Tevent. According to the game producer, they added guild bosses for an alternative way to obtain equipment in the game, since not everyone will be able to go to world bosses on a schedule and not everyone will be able to resist other guilds in PvP.

Boss Tevent uses several different attacks: dashes that sweep away everyone in its path, roots that cause damage. Separately, it is worth mentioning the curse, which must be removed within a certain time, otherwise it will kill you. The boss arena is surrounded by a moat with water and springs of water – this water removes the curse. When it rains, the moat can completely fill with water, making it easier to remove the curse.

Throne and Liberty will release in South Korea on December 7, 2023, with pre-production character creation starting on November 22. This is the first full-fledged MMORPG for PC from NCSOFT after a period of cross-platform projects.
