Blizzard has canceled the survival simulator Project Odyssey, announced two years ago

A survival simulator codenamed Project Odyssey was announced by Blizzard in 2022. A large team of developers was working on the game, and according to insiders, it was close to release. At that time, nothing was known about the new product, except that its actions would unfold in a completely new fantasy universe, not related to the company’s popular franchises. Unfortunately, it has now become known that the project has been completely cancelled.

The official reason for the cancellation of Project Odyssey has not been announced. However, given the massive layoffs at Xbox and the departure of Blizzard President Mike Ibarra, which occurred on the same day, it can be assumed that the decision was made as a result of a reassessment of priorities at the company. Some employees who worked on the game will be transferred to other Blizzard projects in the early stages of development, Microsoft said.
