Plot

The action takes place in the year 2047, 24 years after the end of the events of Crysis 2. After the elimination of the threat of cephalopods, a power vacuum was created, subsequently filled by CELL, which began as a private military company and later turned into a diversified mega-corporation. It established a monopoly in some important sectors of the economy, in particular energy, and used financial and debt schemes to control the population. After the fighting, New York never recovered, finally turning into ruins, among which there are still occasional clashes between the forces of CELL, the remnants of the surviving cephalopods and the rebels who are fighting the dictatorship of the corporation.

A group of such rebels, led by former Predator group member Michael Sykes (call sign Psych), freed protagonist Lawrence Barnes (call sign Prophet) from his imprisonment in the territory of the CELL base. At the beginning of the game, Prophet is the only operator of the nanosuit; the rest, including Psycho, were captured by the corporation and left without costumes. The player also learns that the protagonist of the 1st part of the game with the callsign Nomad also died, but the circumstances of his death are not specified.

The main characters of the game

• The prophet is the protagonist. This is Major Lawrence Barnes, formerly Commander of the Predator Squad. In Crysis 2, he committed suicide, but the nanosuit that the Prophet put on Alcatraz restored the Prophet’s identity. Thus, the Prophet retained his consciousness as he was in the nanosuit before committing suicide.
• Crazy is a US Special Forces fighter, British by birth, Sergeant Michael Sykes. He was one of the main characters in the game Crysis, a member of the Predator squad, which included Nomad, the protagonist of the original game.
