Cruelty Squad first went into early access in January 2021, followed by a full release in June. The first thing that most of those who look at the screenshots or gameplay video will most likely say is, “What?”. The second – “Is this really a game?”. With the third phase, the developers will either be called crazy or they will put Cruelty Squad on download. Or maybe both.
The description of the gameplay and plot are not the main things in this game. The main thing is the visual solution in which it is made. First, acid colors catch the eye. Then – old-fashioned low-poly graphics. Together, they form an unspeakable acid-eyed ensemble that immerses the player in a cybernetic biopunk future, where he controls a modified mercenary who works for a corporation that destroys competitors with dirty methods.
As soon as the player gets used to the graphics, interesting gameplay mechanics emerge. To eliminate enemies at various levels, you will have to choose weapons and save ammo. To restore health carefully, you will have to eat corpses or fish caught from the toilet. Picked-up parts of enemies can be sold on the exchange, improving your arsenal. There are literally no rules in the game – to achieve the mission, you can kill civilians, take the level by storm or stealth, use silent and non-lethal weapons, or destroy all life in your path. These features make Cruelty Squad a highly replayable, visually unique project that incorporates the best shooter mechanics of the past.
