Ubisoft will close its South Korean branch at the end of April

Ubisoft Company announced about the imminent closure of the South Korean branch via social networks. Founded in 2002, Ubisoft Korea will cease operations at the end of this month, on April 30, 2024. It is reported that this decision was made as part of a global restructuring in response to the rapidly changing gaming market.

“Despite the closure of Ubisoft Korea, we will continue to publish Ubisoft games, export and market in Korea. We will continue to provide customer support in Korean,” the company said.

“Ubisoft Korea was founded in 2002 as a small office in South Korea, a country that was once a wasteland for console gaming. For 22 years, we have played a small but significant role in the development of console gaming in Korea, helping Korean fans enjoy localized games and gaming culture,” said Jerry Lee, CEO of Bungie Korea. “We would like to thank all of our Korean users for their support throughout this journey.”

Last November, Ubisoft cut headcount in its studios and global IT departments, and a few days ago laid off some staff in its Asia-Pacific division.
