Xbox fans in China are least fortunate

We already know that Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S game consoles will retail for $ 499 and $ 299, respectively. Xbox Series X will receive a 1 TB solid state drive, of which about 800 GB will be available to users. The Xbox Series S comes with a 512GB solid state drive. Microsoft says games should take up to 30% less space on the Xbox Series S than on the older console.

To expand the space available for installing and running next-generation games, users will be offered a 1TB Seagate gaming drive. It was previously available for pre-order in the US for $ 220. But Xbox fans were least fortunate in China, where an external SSD for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S was priced at $ 250. It also finally became known that this expansion card has 920 GB of free space. It is clear that there is more space on external drives with the same declared volume, since the operating system takes up a lot of space on the internal SSD.

Details on the expensive memory card for the Xbox Series X. It offers 920GB of free space versus 800GB for the internal SSD

Information from Seagate’s official website confirms that this is a PCIe Gen4x2 NVMe SSD with a theoretical maximum speed of 4GB / s. This is the only accessory so far that will allow players to get the same great performance as the internal storage.

According to the latest information, games on Xbox Series X have started to load three to four times faster. In particular, on Xbox One, the Control game loads in 30–38 seconds, on Xbox Series X in just 9–10 seconds, and in the case of Final Fantasy XV, the difference is almost sixfold.

Another interesting feature is fast game resume. It allows you to switch between several games, while each remains in memory. Switching takes 5-10 seconds.
