Facebook continues to buy up VR studios. This time the company was joined by Downpour Interactive, known for the multiplayer shooter for virtual reality glasses Onward, released in 2016. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Both companies will continue to support Onward across all platforms the game is currently available on. In addition, with additional financial support, Downpour Interactive plans to begin work on new projects. Although the details of the upcoming games remain a secret, the developers promise that with the help of them they will try to “bring this gaming experience to as many people as possible.”
Since late 2019, Facebook has acquired studios such as Beat Games, Sanzaru Games, and Ready at Dawn. The latter is best known for the two God of War PSP spin-offs and the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886. The team has also released several VR games.
