Not only on the characteristics, but also on the accessories
After the premiere of the Galaxy Note20, it became clear that this smartphone is not as premium as it should have been. The plastic cover is the tip of the iceberg for the savings allowed by the developers, but this is not the only such moment.
Take, for example, the scope of delivery. AKG headphones with USB-C interface are no longer included, at least in the US. The piquancy of the situation lies in the fact that if the user asks for such headphones upon purchase, they will be given out. But they are not in the box. In some regions, the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra no longer come with a protective case, although the predecessor did. India has become such an unhappy region. And what is it like to get a 25W charger in the kit instead of a 45W one?
In addition to the plastic back panel, the Galaxy Note20 disappoints with a screen: its frame rate is only 60 Hz, and protection is provided by hardly the flagship tempered glass Gorilla Glass 5. In the basic version of the Galaxy Note20 Ultra without 5G support, only 8 GB of RAM, while the version with 5G support has 12 GB of RAM. There is no 16GB RAM option at all, although the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G does. Another comparison with the Galaxy S20 Ultra is not in favor of the Note20 Ultra: the resolution of the front camera is 10 megapixels instead of 40 megapixels, and the maximum zoom level is 50x instead of 100x.
Interestingly, the US market was also cheated in terms of the amount of flash memory: in the basic version it is only 128 GB, while in other countries it is 256 GB.
All in all, Samsung cut corners as much as it could to keep costs down. How well it will be received by users is a question. In the meantime, new items are not very popular in the home market. At least the demand does not reach the level of the Galaxy Note10.
