The South Korean company Krafton reported record sales in its history and spoke about ambitious plans for 2024. Total sales in 2023 were 1.910 trillion won (+3.1%), and net profit was 594.1 billion won (+18.8%). In US dollars, this is $1.438 billion and $447.2 million, respectively. Most of all, this success was influenced by a 37% increase in sales of PUBG: Battlegrounds on PC and consoles, as well as the return Battleground Mobile to the Indian market.
But the most interesting thing is the new games that the publisher will delight us with this year. In total, Krafton’s internal studios are preparing to release 5 large-budget projects in 2024:
Dark and Darker Mobile — a mobile adaptation of the well-known first-person PvPvE action game Dark and Darker. The development is in charge of the legendary Bluehole Studio, which previously worked on MMORPGs such as Elyon and TERA. The project is created entirely on new assets so as not to repeat the legal problems of the original.
inZOI is a hyper-realistic simulator of life in modern cities. Players in the role of “operator” will have to manage the lives of selected residents. According to the developers, the project will implement many modern technologies. Previously, we wrote a separate article about the declared features of the project.
Dinkum Mobile — a mobile adaptation of the life simulator Dinkum, created by one person and released in early access Steam. Players will have to live on an island inspired by the Australian outback. The project is positioned as a service game and will constantly receive updates, including paid ones.
Project Black Budget is a multiplayer excraction shooter developed by the core of developers who were previously responsible for PUBG: Battlegrounds. The project became known from a small announcement at the G-STAR 2022 exhibition, and there are still no details. What is known is that each gaming session will require strategic decisions to be made, and the player’s progress will vary based on the choice between risk and reward. Most likely, the release will take place in the second half of 2024.
Subnautica 2 is the direct successor to the legendary sea survival simulator Subnautica. The project is being created as a service game with support for co-op for up to 4 people. The game engine is Unreal Engine 5 and will offer stunning stylized graphics.
In addition, Krafton has invested in and will act as a third-party publisher in more than ten projects from third-party studios.
